Annie has her kid

We were busy with a sawmill job and returned to find Annie had her kid. And what a cutie she is. Annie was overjoyed and licked everyone -- goats, people, chickens -- all over. She has so much milk, baby can hardly get her mouth around a teat. annie and baby

Annie has already given me more milk in one milking than I have gotten from all goats this year. Bebe the nubian kicks the bucket -- she hardly lets her own kid nurse much less me milk her. With all this milk I can make lots of soap. Any extra can go to the pigs for a nice treat. They are already cleaning up on duck eggs. bebe

I was lucky enough to call our sheep-farmer neighbor just in time to bring my sheep over to his place to get them sheared. I didn't get a chance to take any before pictures but they were *wooly* and hot in this August-like weather. The men who did the shearing were from NZ and very professional -- they made short work of it and were off to the next stop. At first the sheep's pen mates, Liddy the pygmy and Squirt the boer didn't know who these sheep were. Soon they settled down to eating.

We should have a doe kid this weekend. She is a solid boer cross, so we cannot wait to see what her babies look like!
