Uneventful Weekend

We had a hard, hard frost Friday night. Even waterers froze over. Everyone got to run aroud all weekend and they were quite happy with me for that! When you open up 7-8 different chicken coops and you leave them open all day, by bedtime some chickens play musical chairs and go to sleep in each others' houses. Grass is always greener I suppose. Makes my nightly "beak count" a little more difficult.
I finally put up some portable fencing and let the nari hens out. They were very happy with me too! I was surprised that Murphy did not go to hang out with them more. He prefers Goosegoose. I hope by spring he changes his mind about that.
Got 700 pounds of feed on Saturday for the pigs and goats. It's a warm fuzzy when you walk into the feedstore and they know your name and what you want. Well it's a nice feeling to me anyway. Trouble is, I have 3 different feedstores to visit -- one for goats, one for pigs an d other grains, and one for chickens. I need to get chicken feed in the next few days. The place I get the goat feed is checking into supplying me with the chicken feed too, a specific product they don't usually carry.
I stained all the batten strips in preparation for finishing the second coop. We need to place the strips on the front wall before building the enclosed run. I am hoping we can get this done quickly but with hunting season upon us, and Gary working 100 miles away, time is short.
