Bugsy Kids
After watching a goat have such a bad birthing process, watching another makes my mind race with potential problems. Even the most normal event can look suspicious. But you ahve to get back on the horse and ride.
Luckily Bugsy is a rock solid mama. I started out in the barn about 2:30 this afternoon -- I had left the abondoned kid in the basement while I worked, and quickly brought her out to nurse off Sarah.
Watching Bugsy I knew today was the day. She didn't take too long.
We now have a little buck kid who was born about 6:30 tonight. Bugsy is a great mama and went right to work on him.
I'll be going out throughout the night to make sure she doesn't have another kid. I think she would have had it by now though. Pictures tomorrow when we have more light.

Sarah has adopted the little goat I brought to work. Although the little girl still seems cold, she nurses well and is growing. (She is seen here wearing a tiny sweater!) Sarah is a very good mother to her, but she is mean to the other goats. This will make it complicated when we bave all the goats in the barn with their kids.

It is my hunch that Nala will be the next to kid. She is absolutely HUGE and looks like she has been draining today. She is in the barn now and I will be checking on her every couple hours overnight. Notice Murphy in the picture behind Nala -- he has to be in every picture that ham!

I don't think there is anything cuter than tiny baby goat kids! Except possibly tiny baby lambs... it would be a tight contest.
