Strange Invitation

I have received two e-mails like this in the past couple days:

Disney is on a search for the country's real "Chicken Little"!

We are organizing an event for the upcoming DVD release of the animated movie "Chicken Little". Your farm made it onto our list of potential candidates and we hope you are interested in this fun and exciting spoof: in honor of the movie, we are seeking out the country's real "Chicken Little". Do you have a chicken, perhaps of a rare breed, that you feel measures up to the title? We invite you to take a measuring stick to your littlest chicken (though it MUST be full grown - no chicks!) and discover its claim to fame!

The event is projected to take place on March 20 in Los Angeles.
Finalists will be flown out and provided with accommodations for the big day, and will also receive a DVD of the movie. Because this event is the official DVD release announcement it will take place with voice personalities from the movie, and there will be a chance for clips to air on television!

The person whose chicken is judged to be the "littlest" will receive a pair of tickets for a day at Disney(land/world) and the winning chicken will be pardoned from the factory! It will be taken to live the rest of its life happily at Thunder Mountain Ranch at Disneyworld. He will also gain the spotlight of this event and mentions in follow-up media coverage.

We welcome unique breeds and variety, so long as you think yours could be the next "Chicken Little"!! Please email the height, weight, and a picture of your chicken to:

Because this event is soon approaching, please email your information in today for the chance to partake in the finalist filming!

Now I have plenty of little chickens. Here's Mama the Mille Fleur. They don't come much smaller, or cuter. She loves to have her fluffy face scratched.
But while I applaud this agency's creativity for promoting this dvd release, I find a couple things "odd" with this press release.
  • If I had a "chicken, perhaps of a rare breed, that (I) feel measures up to the title?" would I give him away?
  • And "the winning chicken will be pardoned from the factory!" If I had a tiny rare breed chicken, would he be going to a factory? (I am assuming they mean the chicken will be processed for consumption.) Even if the bird were not so rare, there's not a lot to eat with these tiny chickens!

I donate a scrappy little rooster, like Scrappy the rosecomb here, and get flown out to Disneyland. I think. I know I will "receive a pair of tickets for a day at Disney(land/world)" but am I going to California or Florida? Or do I get flown out to California for the event and then am given some tickets to Florida? Wait a sec.
(The chicken) "will be taken to live the rest of its life happily at Thunder Mountain Ranch at Disneyworld." Hey guess what? Thunder Mountain Ranch is at DisneyLand. Yikes.

Scrappy and Mama and all my other chickens will be staying right here, thank you. Please get your facts straight, Media Tonic, Inc.

Mo - what breed is Scrappy?

We were given a little Roo just like him. The little Roo (his given name) was found in someone's garage. Not a clue where he came from or how he got there. They live in the country, with no known neighbors that kept chickesn.

little Roo, was used to being handled and is caught very easily and likes to be held.

He's a Rosecomb! One of MM's special "extra bonus" chicks!
