This is so *not* farm-related

Just received from a friend of mine:

Dear family and friends,

I am writing to let you know that this September 9, I will be participating in the annual AIDS Ride for Life. Every year, dozens (and possibly hundreds this year) of people cycle a grueling 50, 85 or 100 mile course around Cayuga Lake for a very pressing cause: AIDS. This year, the 8th anniversary of this event, is a landmark year in the AIDS pandemic. This year is the 25th anniversary of the CDC’s report about a “strange new disease” that is now known as AIDS. It is hard to believe that this much time has passed, and a cure is still so far away. This is why I am asking for your support.

In order for me to ride on September 9, I must raise at least $300 in donations to AIDS research. If you would like to support me and this cause, click the link below and follow the instructions. Donations can be made either over the Internet or by mail.

Make sure to mention my name (Kelly Lindsay) in the “Designation” field or on the rider sponsorship form. The littlest bit goes a long way to such an important cause. My rider profile can be viewed here and as I receive sponsorship, I will post them here.

Please kindly let me know if you have made a donation and the amount so that I can keep track of it and send you my personal thanks! If you are unable to make a monetary contribution, your moral support helps as well! This is not an easy task, especially for an asthmatic living in hilly upstate New York. The cause, however, is worthy enough for me to want to accomplish this. Wish me luck as I pedal my way around the lake!

I really appreciate your support, monetary AND moral! Time to get back on the bike and train some more…

The AIDS ride is a great cause. Good for your friend!

I noticed you haven’t written about your garden much this year. How’s it doing? Has the rain caused much damage on that score?
