First Fire

We are dealing with the remnants of Hurrican Ernesto and have lots of rain, and cooler temps. We had our first fire today. This morning, we struck out to Whitney Point to check out their Farmers' Market, but even they stayed at home.
Melody the turkey mama sat outside in the rain, protecting her babies, even though I would run out from time to time to move her back to the shelter of the doghouse she has claimed as her own.
The only ones happy with the weather today were the ducks and geese. Yup, it was a good day to be a duck if you were outside. We stayed in and caught up on stuff inside.
By the size of the apples and the vast amount, it looks like we will have a rough winter.
